Vehicle Runs Down 5 at the Casino (01/18/08) 65-122

Medic 186 was on location at the Philadelphia Park Casino treating a fall victim, when the medic unit and a group of pedestrians were struck by an out of control car in the valet pick up area. Medic 186 advised Bucks County fire radio of the situation and requested an MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) be dispatched.

Deputy 65 arrived on location and met with Medic 186's crew and confirmed that numerous pedestrians had been struck, with one victim trapped under the vehicle. Engine 65 went in service with a combination rescue-tool and cribbing to extricate the pinned pedestrian, the remainder of the engine crew assisted EMS with patient care. Rescue 4 arrived and assisted Engine 65's crew with the extrication (appx. 30 minute extrication time). Engine 88 was added and assigned to set up a landing zone for the incoming Penn Star medical helicopter , they air transported the subject who was trapped to the University of Temple Hospital in Philadelphia. Medic 186, Medic 185, Medic 114, Medic 143, Medic 168, Medic 113 and Medic 122 later arrived and transported other patients to local hospitals. Bensalem Police are still investigating the crash.

Small Fire in Apartment ( 01/21/08) 28-11

 
Deputy 65 AOS of a 2-story apartment and reported smoke showing from the 2nd floor.  Ladder 65 OIC reported a fire in a heater with limited extension to the attic.  Engine 16 dropped a dry 5" supply line to Side A and Quint 28 advanced their crew to the second floor to assist Ladder 65.  The fire was quickly placed under control and the scene was turned over to Bensalem Twp. L&I. 

 

 

 

 

 

Route 1 Extrication (01/25/08) 65-28

Engine 65 was dispatched with Medic 186 for an accident in the northbound lanes of Route 1 superhighway north of the PA Turnpike interchange. Upon arrival Engine 65 was advised by the medic crew of 1 female trapped in the vehicle. Engine 65 went in service with cribbing and a combination rescue-tool to remove the roof of the vehicle. E84 and R4 arrived on scene and assisted E65. The patient was transported the Frankford Torresdale. The engine crew stood by for a brief period and assisted 22pd with scene lighting.

 

 

NFD Goes to Work on MVA w/ Entrapment (2/6/08) 65-04

Engine 65 was originally dispatched with Medic 186 and Bensalem PD for a MVA with an unconscious on Mechanicsville Road in the area of Century Lane.   Upon arrival Bucks County Fire Radio advised the Engine Co. that police were reporting entrapment.  Deputy 65 arrived and reported a two vehicle MVA with one entrapped.  Engine 65 went in-service with stabilization and popping the passenger side door of a Nissan Pick-up truck.  Ladder 65 arrived and secured all hazards and assisted EMS with patient care as Rescue 16 set up scene lighting.  All units remained on location for approximately 45 minutes assisting Bensalem Police with scene lighting.

Truck Goes to Work on 2 Alarm Fire (2/20/08) 21-74

Ladder 65 was added on Box 21-74 (2nd Alarm).  Chief 21 arrived and reported heavy fire through the roof of a two story cluster of homes.  Crews originally went in-service with master streams followed by an interior attack.  Ladder 65's crew was split and assisted Ladder 8 opening the roof and Engine 9 and Rescue 31's with interior operations.  All hands were in-service for an extended period of time. 

 

 

 

 

 

Afternoon Extrication on Route 1 Soutbound  (2/21/08) 4-32

Chief 65 AOS reporting a 2 vehicle accident with 1 entrapped. E65 arrived , cribbed the vehicle and assisted E84 with a driver's side door pop. R9 later arrived and assisted. 2 patients were transported to Frankford Torresdale Hospital.

 

 

 

 

 

Small Fire at the Great American Diner  (3/19/08) 65-21

A box assignment was transmitted at the Great American Diner in the 2900 block of Street Rd early Wednesday morning. Engine 65 arrived to find a small fire smoldering in the parapet wall above the main entrance. E65, L65 & TW16 were in service for a brief period. The fire was quickly extinguished and there was no extension. FM222's office is investigating the cause.

 

 

Engine Company Makes Quick Work of a Porch Fire (3/19/08) 4-5

Chief 65 AOS of a one story single family dwelling and reported light smoke from the rear.  Engine 65 dropped a dry 5" supply line to side A and stretched a booster line to the rear of the dwelling. Engine crew extinguished the fire on the porch and checked for extension.   Ladder 1 went in-service with positive pressure fans and Engine 4 assisted Engine 65.  Bensalem FMO is investigating the cause of the fire. 

 

 

 

 

 

Overturned Vehicle Route 1 Nortbound  (3/19//08) 65-28

Deputy 65 AOS and reported no entrapment but one vehicle was on its roof in the Northbound Lanes of Route 1 just inside the Philadelphia City Limits.  Engine 65 went in-service securing the hazards and assisting Medic 186 and Medic 185 with patient care.   

 

 

 

 

 

 

Overnight Dwelling Fire In Trevose (03/26/08) 4-5

Deputy 65 (Robert Sponheimer) arrived on scene with fire showing from side b of a one story 50' x 30' structure.  Engine 4-1 and Engine 65 arrived and went in-service with an 1 3/4" waterline.  Interior crews made a quick knock down of the fire and the incident was placed under control at 04:55 hrs.  Other units on the scene were Ladder 65, Engine 84 and Medic 186.  Bensalem FMO is investigating the cause of the fire.

 

 

 

 

Room and Contents Job at the Inn of the Dove (03/22/08) 65-30

Engine 65 originally dispatched for anautomatic fire alarm , arrived on location and reported smoke showing from unit A-102 and requested the Box Alarm be struck.  Chief 65 AOS , established command and advised the communications center that Engine 65 was in-service an 1 3/4" waterline and Ladder 65 was to go in-service with ventilation.  Interior crews quickly knocked the fire down and were able to hold the fire to one unit.  Engine 4 assisted with overhaul and all other units stood by on Old Street Road.  The fire is being investigated by FM 222-1. 

 

 

 

Another Quick Knock for the NFD (03/30/08) 65-9

Chief 65 arrived on location and reported smoke showing from side C of an attached two car garage.  Engine 65 picked up a hydrant on Knights Road and went in-service with a 1 3/4" waterline.  Engine 65 Command advised Chief 65 of a vehicle fire on a lift in the garage with a heavy smoke condition and extension.  Ladder 65 vented the garage and Quint 28 pulled a second 1 3/4" waterline.  The fire was contained to the garage , the  Bensalem Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. 

 

 

 

 

Truck Co. Opens Roof (04/17/08) 88-03

Chief 65 AOS (Williamson Ct.) and reported smoke showing from the roof of a 2-story end of the row dwelling.  Chief 44 established Newport command and placed E-88 and E-8 in service with an 1 3/4" waterline and Ladder 65 to open the roof.  Fire was contained to the attic and was quickly placed under control.  Bensalem FMO on location for the investigation. 

 

 

 

2nd Job of the Day for the NFD (04/17/08) 28-18

Bensalem Police on location at Creekside Apartments confirming a working fire and possible entrapment.  Deputy 65 AOS and report smoke showing from the 3rd floor on an apartment.  Engine 16 took the hydrant and Engine 65 went in service with an 1 3/4" waterline.  Ladder 65 opened the roof and with assistance from Quint 28 and Ladder 16 performed primary and secondary searches (both negative).  The fire was contained to Apartment 110-06 and no injuries were reported.  Bensalem FMO on location for the investigation. 

 

 

Nasty Wreck on Route 1 (04/18/08) 65-28

Chief 65 AOS and reported 1 overturned vehicle and 1 vehicle over the embankment in the Northbound Lanes of RT 1.   Engine 65 on location and assisted 22 PD with the removal of the female driver of the school van.  Crews secured all hazards and treated 3 pre-school patients and 2 adult patients.  Medic 185 and Medic 114 transported the injured to local hospitals and the busy highway was closed for appropriately 2 hours while police investigated the accident and the vehicles were removed.

Kitchen Fire at Local Hotel (04/20/08) 65-24

Police on scene at the Extended Stay America on Tillman Drive reporting a working fire with possible entrapment.  Chief 65 AOS an established command and Engine 65 supported the sprinkler system.  Engine 65 reported a smoke condition on the 3rd floor then discovered a stove fire in Room # 309.  The fire was quickly extinguished and the assignment was held to 2 Engine Co's. and a Ladder Co.  All searches were negative.

 

 

Engine 65 Catches Work (5/24/08) 28-18

Crews were dispatched to 2500 Knights Road at the Creekside Apartments , unit 44-02 for a report of an apartment fire shortly after 01:00 hrs.  Deputy 65 AOS and reported heavy smoke showing from a 3-story apartment building.  Engine 65 established a water supply and went in-service with an 1 3/4" waterline.  Chief 28 established Eddington Command and Tower 16 was assigned to ventilate the building.  DC65 and Engine 65's crew reported heavy smoke and fire conditions in a basement level apartment, but was aggressively able to knock the fire down. Quint 28 pulled a 2nd 1 3/4" waterline as a backup line , Ladder 65 performed primary and secondary searches (both negative). All other apparatus staged and advanced manpower to Side A.  Bensalem FMO is investigating the cause of the fire. 

 

 

Ladder 65 Added to Fatal House Fire ( 5/25/08)_ 1-24

Chief 1 AOS with heavy fire from the rear of a one story dwelling.  Prior to the 1st engine company arriving on location police pulled a male victim from the dwelling.  Engine 1 and Engine 6 went in-service with two 1 3/4" water lines and the box was struck for manpower.  Ladder 65 arrived and advanced there crew to side A for manpower.  The victim was transported to the hospital by Medic 114 and was pronounced DOA.  Lower Southampton FMO and the State Police FM are investigating the cause of the fatal fire.

 

 

Struck Pedestrian on RT 1 (06/07/08) 65-28

Engine 65 was dispatched to the 2200 block of Route 1, IFO of the Lincoln Motel to assist Medic 185 with a struck pedestrian.  Crews arrived on scene to find a male laying in the highway unconscious with a compound fracture to the right leg.   Engine 65's crew assisted with patient care and then assisted 22PD with lighting up the scene for the accident investigation.  

 

 

Dwelling Fire in Trevose (6/20/08) 4-1

Deputy 65 AOS of a 2 1/2 story wood-framed dwelling and reported smoke showing from the second floor.  Engine 4 established a water supply and went in-service with an 1 3/4" waterline, Ladder 65 arrived side A , spilt the crew (ladders/ventilation and assisting Engine 4's crew with the hose line).  Interior crews reported fire and a heavy smoke condition on the second floor, but were quickly able to knock the fire down.  Engine Companies 6, 1, and 9 staged.  No injuries were reported and investigators from the Bensalem FMO were on location handling the investigation.

 

 

 

Engine 65 Respond to a Crash on Route 1 (6/25/08) 65-28

Engine 65 was dispatched along with Medic 186 and Rescue 4 for an auto extrication at the intersection of Rt. 1 and Old Lincoln Hwy.  Chief 65 reported a 2 vehicle accident with numerous patients , negative entrapment.  Engine 65 assisted the Medic unit with patient care and secured all hazards.  Medic 185 and Medic 114 were added to the assignment and Bensalem Police were on location investigating the cause of the crash. 

 

 

Sunday Evening Warehouse Fire (6/29/08) 44-19

Crews AOS of a 200' x 250' commercial building with heavy smoke showing from the roof.  Command placed all companies in-service and added 2 additional engines and a ladder.  Chief 65 and Engine 44's crew advanced into the building from side D (Delta) and encountered a heavy smoke condition.  Deputy 65 took an additional crew into side A (Alpha) of the building and reported heavy fire, heat and smoke conditions.  Both interior crews attacked the fire with 2 1/2" water lines.  Ladder 65 laddered the building and vented the roof and Engine 65 advanced an additional hose line into the building from side C (Charlie) and discovered fire and heavy heat conditions on a 2nd floor mezzanine.  Other companies on locations and assisting were Engine 88, Engine 16, Quint 28, Ladder 16, Ladder 11, Rescue 9 and Medic 185.  Bensalem FMO is investigating the cause of the fire.

House Struck by Lightning (7/24/08) 88-7

Companies were dispatched to 3000 Alden Ct. for a report of a house struck by lightning.  Deputy 65 arrived on location and reported smoke showing from the roof of a two story dwelling (end of a row).  Deputy 65 established Newport Command, and placed Engine 88 and Ladder 65 in-service.  Interior crews reported fire in the attic and the ladder company ventilated the roof.  Engine 8 established a water supply for Engine 8 and Engine 7's crew checked the exposure on the D-Side for extension.  Bensalem FMO was on location for the investigation.

Fire at Vacant Building (7/30/08) 16-5

Engine 16 AOS and reported heavy fire from the 3rd floor of a 3-story vacant building (Erdman Furniture, 2217 Bristol Pk).  All companies in-service with master stream operations.  Bensalem FMO and Police were on location for the investigation. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fire Rips Through Dunkin Donuts (8/26/08) 65-28

Engine 65 was originally dispatched for a report of a dumpster fire, while responding Engine 65 was advised the assignment was being upgraded to a store fire.  Deputy 65 AOS heavy fire from the roof and side D of a 50 x 30 store (Dunkin Donuts).  Engine 65 dropped in and went in-service with a 2 1/2" and an 1 3/4" waterline(s).  Ladder 65 vented the front glass windows and cut an additional hole in the roof.  Engine 4, Engine 84 and Engine 88 assisted with the additional handlines and Rescue and Ladder 8 assisted with truck work. All hands were in-service for an extended period of time.  Bensalem FMO and Bensalem Police were on location handling the investigation. 

 

 

Fatal Crash on Mechanicsville Road (10-01-08) 65-9

Deputy 65 arrived on location of a two vehicle MVA at  Mechanicsville Road and Byberry Road and reported one subject DOA and one subject with facial lacerations.  Engine 65 secured the hazards, assisted EMS with patient care and assisted 22PD with lighting. The road was closed for a few hours while accident investigators investigated the cause of the fatal crash.

 

 

Engine Runs First In Apartment Fire (10-03-08) 28-18

Companies (E65, E28) were initially dispatched for the alarm system at Creekside Apartments Friday afternoon. Bucks County Fire Dispatch quickly upgraded the assignment upon recieving multiple 911 calls reporting a working fire. Deputy 65 arrived on location , reporting a 3 story garden style apartment with heavy smoke showing. Engine 65 arrived, dropped in and went in service 1" 3/4 water line to the 3rd floor. Tower 16 was ordered to the roof for ventilation. Engine 4, Engine 44 and Ladder 37 were also put into service. Bensalem FMO and Bensalem Police are handling the investigation.

 

Ladder 65 Goes To Work In The Valley (11-04-08) 88-5

Chief 44 AOS of a 2 story twin dwelling with heavy smoke showing from the 1st and 2nd floors.  Engine 88 went in-service with an 1 3/4" waterline and Engine 44 pulled a 2nd 1 3/4" backup line.  Ladder 65 went in-service with truck company operations (laddering the dwelling, venting the roof and searching the dwelling).  Interior crews reported high heat and heavy smoke conditions prior to finding the fire, additional units were dispatched to the scene and assisted the originally dispatched companies.  All hands were in-service for an extended period of time.  FM 2221 is investing the cause of the fire and no injuries were reported. 

 

 

Engine 65 Makes a Quick Knock (10-09-08) 65-7

Engine 65 was dispatched for a fire alarm, while enroute BCFR advised the engine that PD was on location reporting smoke showing.  Engine 65 dropped in and went in-service with a 2 1/2" waterline. Upon arrival Deputy 65 set up Nottingham Command and placed 2 and 1 in-service.  Ladder 65 vented the building and Engine 88 assisted Engine 65 with hooks.  Interior crews reported heavy smoke throughout the pizza shop and located the fire in the rear of the store.  2 additional Engine Co's were placed in-service (Engine 44 and Engine 84).  Fire was contained to the rear of the pizza shop, however smoke damaged two other businesses in the shopping center.  Bensalem FMO and PD are investigating the cause of the fire.
